PDP not Invisible Afterall – Giwa-Amu
Published on March 9th, 2010
Against the back drop of the myth woven around the ruling party the People’s
Democratic Party (PDP) and their recent defeats in Edo, Ondo, Anambra, Lagos
based lawyer and Human Rights Activist Chief Gabriel Giwa-Amu has said the
acclaimed invisibility is all ruse.
He was reacting to the landslide victory of the All Progressive Grand Alliance
(APGA) in the recent concluded Anambra State Governorship election inspite of
the huge funds alleged to have been committed by the People Democratic Party to
intimidate the electorate, who rather than
succumbed, looked somewhere else.
Thanking Anambarians for towing the path of honour by voting for the incumbent
governor, Peter Obi, he said with their singular action, a frame work has been
hacked out for what will eventually take place in 2011.
Wondering why most politicians in Nigeria think they could eat their cake and
have it, he cautioned those who think it is business as usual to get ready to
vacate their respective position as shock surprises the PDP experienced in
Anambra concluded election will be their lot.
“Let all those who claimed to be politicians know that the docility and
gullibility they had perceived and capitalized upon to undo the voting public
has dissipated, the people have now resolved to take the gauntlet and have a say
in the decision as it concern their destiny”, he said.
In another development, the fiery lawyer gave thumbs-up to the Senate for having
the courage to now empower the Vice-President who will now act as
acting-President, pending the resumption in office of the ailing President
Yar’adua.
“Though their actions could be said to be belated, it is however something of
delight that they have now found reasons to act in the manner of civilized
society. We hope the new helms man gives the nation the desired life it has been
denied off for several months he said.”
