Obasanjo to Yar'Adua: "Choose the Path of Honour, Resign." Published on January 22nd, 2010

Former Nigerian leader, Mr. Olusegun Obasanjo has joined the call for the resignation of his successor, President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua to resign from office.

The ex-Nigerian leader who has been criticized for acting selfishly in anger in the wake of strong objection to a third term office ambition, was quoted as saying that his appointed surrogate must consider the path of honour, “if too sick and leave office.”

Obasanjo’s quoted reaction coming in the wake of recent chat with his former media aide, Dr. Doyin Okupe, who promised that his erstwhile boss would soon comment on the Yar’Adua saga which has thrown Nigeria into a serious awkward constitutional predicament.

Dr. Okupe would later explain to sharpedgenews.com that resignation could be great option for Yar’Adua to consider.
Yar’Adua’s two months absence in office has led to massive protest in Abuja, the nation’s capital and Lagos, its commercial alter-ego.

Sources told sharpedgenews.com that Obasanjo now feels that there is a difference between him and Yar’Adua. Yar’Adua has been somewhat laid back while others ran the show even while he was not admitted in a Saudi hospital. On the contrary Obasanjo was embodiment of the administration that he led. “If Yar’Adua resigns and hands over to Vice President Goodluck Jonathan, the nation would not miss him the source told sharpedgenews.com.

The source further disclosed that what Nigerians had failed to appreciate all along was that “Obasanjo had been so detached from anything having to do with Yar’Adua, because the latter had to use the instrument of war against corruption to spite the ex-President and many of his high profile lieutenants shortly after being given the presidency, on a platter of gold.”

“Is it not strange that Obasanjo was not even briefed on his condition?”
