Future POLLS: My group holds the ace, says former V-P Atiku Published on December 11th, 2009 [By OLADIMEJI ABITOGUN]

Former Nigerian Vice-President, Mr. Atiku Abubakar, has described the political machine of the people’s Democratic Movement, PDM, as “well, alike and multi-generational.”

Abubakar, who spoke exclusively with Sharpedgenews.com at his Ikoyi Lagos residence on Friday, said, “it would be a great mistake for anyone to believe that PDM is no longer rolling or relevant. People should understand that we are multi-generational; we groom younger people to ensure continuity and we shall always be relevant in the struggle for good governance and sustainable development and the enthronement of long lasting rule of law.”

Mr. Abubakar arrived Lagos en route Port Harcourt for weekend’s crucial meeting of the Action Congress, AC.

He was wearing a T-shirt with the stripes over Jean pant and was accorded a warm welcome by members of the Atiku Progressive Forum, APF.

He exchanged jokes with Sharpedgenews.com on his youthful casual look: “which Nigerians have never seen before”.

“I was a vendor in the United States before. And even before that, I was a hard-working Nigerian. And now I still work very hard. That is the side you are seeing.”

Atiku said he would not pre-empt the deliberation of the AC at this weekend’s meeting, but he said the party was meeting to ensure “the best for one of the world’s biggest democracies, Nigeria.”
