PUNCH correspondent slumps to death Published on November 22nd, 2009

The media world was jolted Saturday as news filtered in of the sudden death of Abuja Correspondent of The PUNCH, Mr. Ademola Adedeji.

 

Adedeji reportedly slumped to death under befuddling circumstances in his house in Abuja, Friday night.


Chairman of the Abuja chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mr. Jacob Edi, who confirmed the incident, recalled that the late Journalist was still at the NUJ Abuja Press Centre up till 8pm on Friday.


“We were all at the Press Centre and he was in high spirits, bubbling with energy. His death is sad, very sad,” he lamented.


He said the union was still expecting an official statement from The PUNCH management, before the former could decide on the next line of action, as regards giving the deceased a befitting burial.


A 1994 graduate of English from the Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti (now University of Ado-Ekiti) once worked with the Hallmark newspaper after which he moved to National Mirror newspaper before joining the PUNCH titles.


His corpse has reportedly been deposited at the National Hospital, Abuja, for autopsy.
