Royal Crook, Oluwadare Adesina Removed As Deji Of Akure Published on November 9th, 2009
Oba Oluwadare Adesina has been removed and locked out of his palace as the Deji of Akure, the capital of Ondo State, southwest of Nigeria.
The government of Ondo State has sharply reacted to the development. The State commissioner for information and strategy, Mr. Ranti Akerele told sharpedgenews.com “the government is looking into the matter. In our usual respect for our traditional institutions and the need to ensure security for all. Government has directed the Honorable Commissioner for Local Government and chieftaincy affairs to convene a meeting of all stakeholders with a view at ensuring a peaceful resolution of the matter still keeping in view our cultural and traditional values”.
Oba Adesina removal was approved by the traditional council of kingmakers of the ancient city of about one million people. It is the first time any occupant of the 1,100 years old stool would be so removed.
Oba Adesina, who came home after a long sojourn in France, Ireland and United Kingdom to claim the throne, increasingly became despotic in four years of occupying rule. He rule and never reigned.
According to the Akure kingmakers, he acted in ways similar to “say in ancient Israel”, launching into blind rage, snatching common people’s wives, introducing the strange phenomenon of hoodlum and thugs called “area boys” who have successfully scare away potential investors and private property developers.
Indigent women traders also accused Oba Adesina of going into market to destroy staples and stocks aisplarea. He was also accused of menial streak of declaring every woman in Akure has ultimately belonging to the King. Extortion and in searchable monetary graft were said to be common vices to Oba Adesina.
He has spoken from hideout that he is not aware of his purported removal and inquisitive newshounds to “speak with the kingmakers”.
Meanwhile, sharpedgenews.com learnt that the administration headed by Governor Rahman Mimiko, might have accepted the decision of the Akure Kingmakers.
