British Council woos Nigerians to study in the UKPublished on October 15th, 2009

The United Kingdom (UK) has created an opportunity for less-privileged Nigerians to study abroad, courses of their choice at different institutions of higher learning, through its educational and cultural relations organization.


Head of Corporate Affairs of the British Council, Mrs. Omotola Oyebanjo, disclosed this in Jos during the launching of “UK’s commitment to Nigerians Education Development.”


 She said the programmed would go a long way to enhance educational and cultural relations between Nigeria and the UK.
According to her, the British Council has been working in Nigeria for over 65 years to encourage and strengthen educational co-operation and partnership between the two countries


Oyebanjo maintained that during the period, thousands of individuals in both countries have been able to develop knowledge and skills through shared expertise, scholarships, academic links and workshop programs.


She said: “The launch will afford Nigerians the opportunity of seeing first-hand the verity of places of study, vast range of courses, teaching and delivery methods and a consistent commitment to quality learning.


The Head of Corporate Affairs confessed that Nigerians who had the opportunity of studying abroad in the past were excellent and had brought pride to Nigeria as a black nation.
